Domus Hospes
The Domus Hospes is the only place that Others and the natives can mingle freely. There’s something in the air of the Domus that prevents any diseases from being transferred around. The Domus is another way to make money. The Others are paid per hour while working there, and can either work the bar, wait tables, or simply mingle with fans. Of course, the higher your popularity is, the higher your hourly pay will be.
Natives can reserve private meetings with one or more Others. These are more expensive engagements, and Others are encouraged to curry the favor of their guests. Private dining rooms will be decorated to the patron’s tastes.
There are three main areas of the Domus besides the private rooms. There’s the bar area, for drinking, pool playing, and some cards. There is a dining area for light refreshments and those who’d like to have a more formal atmosphere, and there’s the dance floor, complete with a stage and professional entertainers.
The Domus is located across the courtyard from the Campus. Characters can walk there, but can only enter and exit through the back door. The front door is built into the wall surrounding the courtyards of the Others and leads to the outside world. Others CANNOT leave through this door. It is guarded by special drones, and the collar will set of an alarm. If they actually manage to get out of the doors and into the city they will be knocked unconscious by the collar.
Due to the chemicals in the air, everyone is allowed only three hours in the Domus. Anyone who stays longer will begin to get dizzy, feel nauseous, and eventually become ill or pass out. Those more sensitive or with preexisting lung problems may suffer side-effects more quickly. Detox takes five hours, and then the individual is free to go back in. Those who work permanently in the Domus may wear a thin clear filtering mask over nose and mouth. The air is always hazy in the Domus, even when all the lights are lit.
