On Writing
We’d like this game to be one where we can focus on, and improve, our writing and characterization. Yes, we’re here to play and have fun! But you don’t necessarily need to sacrifice writing quality to have fun.
We’d like to encourage constructive criticism among players. No flaming, no bashing, but helpful comments that will build confidence and quality.
One way we’ll do this is our Activity Check. Rather than simply reporting in the number of logs you've written, we require you do instead read someone else's log, and post a comment about it on the AC post. It doesn't have to be fancy - picking out things that you liked, or things that you were confused by is enough. Constructive criticism isn't always positive, but it should never be hateful or hurtful. We're not criticizing the players, or their personal style, but the technical aspects of writing. Those abusing this system will be promptly ejected from the game.
Another way we’d suggest to enable criticism is making use of Google Drive to write your logs. This is a free account with Google, and allows you to make documents that can easily be shared and edited by you or multiple other people. Comments can be made by others to help offer suggestions or clear up confusion.
The Spokesmod (Suz) is a grammar fanatic and would love to help you find and fix tense errors, spelling questions, pronoun confusion, and any number of other common writing troubles! She’ll review logs and offer suggestions upon request.
